Live Earth 7/7/2007

SOS is designed to trigger a global movement to combat our climate crisis. It will reach people in every corner of the planet through television, film, radio, the Internet and Live Earth, a 24-hour concert on 7/7/07 across all 7 continents that will bring together more than 100 of the world’s top musical acts. Live Earth alone will engage an audience of more than 2 billion people through concert attendance and broadcasts. The Live Earth audience, and the proceeds from the concerts, will create the foundation for a new, multi-year global effort to combat the climate crisis led by The Alliance for Climate Protection and its Chair, Vice President Al Gore. SOS was founded by Kevin Wall, who won an Emmy as Worldwide Executive Producer of Live 8.

“Our climate crisis is the paramount challenge facing humanity. SOS is more than a global distress call. SOS will give the world the tools we need to answer that call with meaningful action. The most important part of SOS is how individuals, corporations, and governments respond,” Wall said. “Our climate crisis affects everyone, everywhere, and that’s who SOS is aimed at. Only a global response can conquer our climate crisis. SOS asks all people to Save Our Selves because only we can.”

“Event Merchandising is developing a range of environmentally friendly product’s at concert venues throughout the world. Live Earth will implement a new Green Event Standard that will become the model for carbon neutral concerts and other live events in the future” said Jeremy Goldsmith of Event Merchandising.

“The Climate Crisis will only be stopped by an unprecedented and sustained global movement. We hope to jump-start that movement right here, right now, and take it to a new level on July 7, 2007.” Gore said.

The Who, Noel Gallagher, Kasabian, Russell Brand

The Who, Noel Gallagher, Kasabian, Russell Brand, Noel Fielding plus many other major surprises will perform at the Royal Albert Hall for TCT from 26th – 31st March 2007.

They have become legendary dates in the show-business calendar with massive names of rock and comedy giving their time year after year for one of the entertainment industry’s favourite charities. Now, in their seventh year, the Teenage Cancer Trust concerts at London’s Royal Albert Hall are once again shaping up to be some of the most memorable nights of 2007.

Over two exclusive nights, Noel Gallagher will be joined by a host of very special guests; a not-to-be-missed headlining show by Kasabian; a night of comedy hosted by men-of-the-moment Russell Brand and Noel Fielding; and Saturday night with arguably the best live band in the world, The Who, are some of the highlights of the week with much, much more to be announced over the coming weeks.

The Who were the first band to perform at a Teenage Cancer Trust show back in 2000, a gig which, on its own, made £1.2 million for the charity.

The gigs were the brainchild of The Who’s Roger Daltrey CBE, patron of the Teenage Cancer Trust, who has once again persuaded the best British talent available across rock, pop and comedy to give up their time to raise money for this unique charity.

Announcing this year’s line-up, Roger Daltrey said: “Over the years these shows have really made a massive difference to the money available to build TCT units in NHS hospitals. They also give our teenagers the moral support to help fight this terrible disease”.

Event Merchandising is delighted to be involved in the Teenage Cancer Trust Concerts

The aim of the shows is to raise funds for desperately needed teenage cancer units. TCT units, which are all built in NHS hospitals, are improving survival rates for teenagers with cancer by an estimated 15%. There are currently 7 TCT units – they each cost over 2 million to build and another 15 are needed to ensure every teenager with cancer can have access to one. Over the past seven years these extraordinary series of shows have led directly to the development of three major Teenage Cancer Trust units across the country.
